located in the Trentino Region, Italy, is pleased to announce the
start on November 14th of the Fellowship Programme RESTATE, cofunded
by Marie Curie Actions COFUND
under the EU-FP7-People Programme.
Following
the general objectives of the COFUND PROGRAMME, RESTATE aims at
increasing the European-wide mobility possibilities for training and
career development, and is specifically designed to involve highly
motivated experienced researchers.
Two
mobility schemes are foreseen:
- New
Incoming. Applicants
to this scheme may originate from any country inside or outside
Europe, provided however that over the previous 36 months they have
worked outside of Italy for at least 24 months. At the deadline for
submission of proposals, applicants must either be in possession of
a PhD degree, or should exhibit evidence of having at least four
years full time equivalent experience as researchers.
- New
Re-integration. This
scheme is reserved to applicants of any nationality who have carried
out secondary or advanced studies in Italy, have then worked in one
of the third countries
for
at least three out of the last four years and are now interested in
returning to Italy to further their research interests. At the
relevant deadline for submission of proposals, applicants must
either be in possession of a PhD degree, or should exhibit evidence
of having at least four years full time equivalent experience as
researchers.
Fellowships
shall have an average duration of 2 years and an yearly budget of up
to 64.400€
Applicants
are invited to write proposals focusing on one of the research areas
in which FBK is most recognized. Industry and societal related
issues, identified by (local) stakeholders, are encouraged.
The
deadline for sending the proposals is January, 13th,
2012 at 17.00 CET.

Assistant Professor in Analysis, Control and Optimization of Complex Dynamical Systems
The IMT Institute for Advanced Studies Lucca invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the area of analysis, control and optimization of complex dynamical systems. Candidates with a sound knowledge of control and optimization methods and an interest in both theoretical research and applications to practical problems are desired. Research experience is expected in at least one of the following areas: model predictive control, dynamic optimization, stochastic optimization, control systems design based on optimization methods. Previous experience with applications of control/optimization to smart grids and energy markets is a plus, but candidates with experience in other application areas are welcome. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Engineering or Mathematics with a focus on control or optimization are preferable, and they should have an excellent record of high-impact international publications.
IMT Lucca (http://www.imtlucca.it) is a public international Graduate School and Institute of Technology that acts as a research university with the aim of forming human capital in disciplines characterized by their high potential for concrete applications. IMT strives to reach the fusion of theoretical comprehension and practical relevance.
The Assistant Professor will be a part of the Research Unit "Dynamical Systems, Control, and Optimization" (DYSCO, http://dysco.lab.imtlucca.it/) in the Computer Science and Applications area of the Institute, and will perform research activities, tutorship and mentoring of Ph.D. students, limited teaching of graduate courses and participation in the development of the research activities of the Institute.
Appointment compensation packages will depend on the candidates and their records of accomplishment, but are competitive on an international level. Applicants must be able to teach graduate courses in English; knowledge of Italian is not required.

Bando per il Dottorato di ricerca in Ingegneria dell'Informazione Il
Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione (DEI) del Politecnico di Milano offre 50 nuovi posti per il dottorato di ricerca in Ingegneria
dell'Informazione. La durata del programma di dottorato e' di 3 anni e l'ammissione avviene sulla base di un concorso basato solo su
curriculum. La maggior parte dei posti prevede una borsa di studio con assegno mensile di buon livello (circa 1250 euro aumentato del 50% per
il periodo all'estero). L'ammissione richiede una laurea specialistica in discipline tecnico/scientifiche, ma possono essere ammessi con

The Faculty of Sciences of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB, Brussels, Belgium) announces the opening of a full-time academic position in Computational Statistics starting October 1st, 2010. The position will have a joint affiliation with the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Sciences. Candidates are expected to lead a high-quality research and teaching programme in computational statistics or related topics, demonstrated by significant research and teaching experience, as well as a strong publication record in international journals. All applicants need to hold a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related disciplines. Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration as well as significant research stays in foreign universities or research laboratories are important assets. The candidate will take part in teaching activities in the Bachelor and Master programmes in Mathematics and Statistics, as well as in the Bachelor and Master programmes in Computer Science. He/she should progressively increase his/her teaching activities to reach a level comparable to that of his/her colleagues (typically 4 or 5 hours a week for two semesters, plus some supervision of exercise sessions).
