AI*IA Young Researchers Mobility Grants 2014 Call for research visits Deadline for applications: 30 September, 2014 To favour mobility of young researchers the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI*IA) issues the Association Mobility Grants for 2014. Applications are solicited for funding an extended research visit of up to one month of a PhD student. Two types of visits are supported: (a) a foreign PhD student visiting an Italian Research Laboratory (b) an Italian PhD student visiting a foreign Research Laboratory Students will be funded by AI*IA which will cover their travel costs and living expenses. Funding will cover travel (up to 800 euro) and living expenses during the extended visit (up to 1200 euro). The funding will be provided as a reimbursement for the expenses incurred in the visit. After the visit, the awarded person should send to the Association the receipts of her/his costs for which she/he would like to be refunded. The central aim of these extended visits is to build a research bridge between researchers and to create a solid basis for long term collaborations. Moreover, it is expected that the visit favours the submission of an article on a joint research topics to the Intelligenza Artificiale journal. Applications can be made by a student or a researcher working in Italy. The applicant must be a member of the Association for 2014. If she/he is not a member for 2014 she/he must register before applying. Eligibility for the visiting student is to be enrolled full-time in a PhD programme. Funding is available for 3 students. The visit should be done before the 30th of June 2015. Deadline for applications: September 30, 2014 Notification of grants: October 24, 2014 As said before, two types of applications are envisioned: (i) an Italian researcher or student willing to host a foreign PhD student or (ii) an Italian PhD student willing to go abroad. Information required in the application for hosting a foreing PhD student: 1. name of the Italian student or researcher of the hosting institution; 2. name of the foreign PhD student who will be hosted; 3. name and address of the Lab/Department and University; 4. a short (2 pages) resume/CV of the Italian host; 5. a short (2 pages) resume/CV of the foreign student; 6. A 2 pages description of the research that will be carried out during the visit 7. A budget of the foreseen expenses 8. If the applicant is a student, declaration of his/her advisor indicating that the hosting institution is willing to provide office space and access to lab facilities to conduct the research. 9. Expected visit dates Information required in the application for visiting a foreign research laboratory: 1. name of the Italian PhD student who will go abroad; 2. name of the foreign student or researcher that will host the student; 3. name and address of the foreign Lab/Department and University; 4. a short (2 pages) resume/CV of the Italian student; 5. a short (2 pages) resume/CV of the foreign student or researcher; 6. A 2 pages description of the research that will be carried out during the visit 7. A budget of the foreseen expenses 8. Declaration of the foreign host indicating that the hosting institution is willing to provide office space and access to lab facilities to conduct the research. 9. The committee will award at least one applicant for each application type. If no application for a type is received, only two grants will be awarded. |
